Hello, poddies,
School has moved online, and I know it is a lot harder to stay focused, have a clear and structured schedule so I well be giving you a few tips on how to earn straight A's. yes, I said earned, because you do not just get straight A's by sitting on your arseee (pard my French) it is hard work.
Disclaimer: we offer tutoring and editing services in STEM and Social sciences, feel free to submit a form if you need any help. #CLICKHERECreate attainable goalS
In order to achieve straight A's you have to plan for them. That means creating/journaling what you would like to get in a specific course depending on your strengths. Why are you taking this class? You really wanna meditate on that and get your * together at the beginning of the term. This also means creating a weekly study schedule for all of your classes.
2. Use the resources available on your campus
We are blessed to have gone to a University that had a lot of resources such as the writing centre, science student centre, study groups, e.t.c you paid for these services so please utilize them. Teaching assistants are also valuable resources to use, they have been exactly where you have been and taken that specific class, do not be afraid to ask questions.
3. Go to Office Hours
Office hours are sooooo helpful. I had to use multiple ooo so you hear me loud and clear. I went to all my professors office hours, in fact I spent more time at office hours than I socialized. This is not necessarily a good thing depending on how you look at it. But in office hours, I got to pick my professors brain or get explanations of things I did not. This is also a great way to build long lasting relationships with professors.
4. Write your own notes
It is important that you write notes both in class and outside of class. When studying , make your notes easier to understand. if you are in a STEM major, it is helpful to write concise notes; try writing on one piece of paper, it helps keep concepts in compartments inside your brain. DO not type notes: I know it is more attractive and saves the environment, but you are better off writing on an iPad, even though pricey you are getting the benefits of hand written notes.
Psychology says: we remember things better when we write them down by hand. 5. Review Notes Weekly
#5 is closely relate with #1 reviewing notes weekly goes hand in hand with creating a rigorous study schedule. look outside of the information given in class. Read the textbook, all these combined will help raise your grade in a class. The human brain can not remember information studied 2 days before an exam. You have to repeatedly review the same information.
6. Deeper Understanding
You need to study, for a deeper understanding, surface level knowledge will not get you the grades you need.
7. Go above and beyond s VITAL
Figure out what your learning style is, this is important for effiecency purposes. some people learn best on their own, that means it is counter-intuitive to go to class since you do not learn well that way. you are better off spending that time going over what will be discussed in class. By knowing your learning style, you are more likely to make informed decisions
8. Go above and beyond
All the tips mentioned above DO NOT guaranteee straight A's, straight A students typically go above and beyond what is required. What is mentioned above is the bare minimum. you have to go above and beyond to get straight A's the same way you would to get F's. :)
9. Self care
This is the most important tip of all. You can not do your best, when you are not at your best. pulling all nighters is STUPID... you need sleep in order to function, or for your brain to consolidate whatever information you studied. Can you drive your car without fuel? nooo, so why drive your body without proper care and nutrients
10. Self worth
With or without straight A's, you are still worthy. In the grand scheme of things grades do not mean anything. Grades are merely a vehicle to get you where you need to get. You need to study to get straight A's but studying does not automatically mean you will get straight- THAT MEANS STUDYING IS THE NECESSARY CONDITION.
Until Next Time,
